Encouraging domestic
investment in startups

Funding begins at home

While there is a surge in the number of Unicorns in India, foreign investors continue to be the major source of funding for startups in India. It is imperative to recognise wealth creation within the country; investors comprising of Indian HNIs and UHNIs are investing outside of India. As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), this amount was $19 billion US last year alone. If we make an effort to channelize a fraction of this amount towards funding Indian startup, it would go a long way in strengthening the ecosystem.

CIES will be working with investment networks and family offices to collaborate on running joint initiatives and encourage domestic investment into startups by running cohorts for HNI’s and Family offices. In parallel, CIES will be working with startups to get them investment ready and provide a platform for them to pitch to the Centre's investment partners.
